October is probably one of my favorite months of the year. Not only do we have Halloween, (the best holiday ever!), but in Vegas it means Book Festival and Renaissance Festival. It's also the month where I get to celebrate not only my husband's birthday, but also my youngest daughter as well.
Basically every weekend of the month has something fun going on. I Love October.
This year I get to add a few speaking engagements to the list of awesomeness.
You may know I do Spilling Ink every week. It was started in part because I have a very real fear of public speaking. Little inside info here. Writers get to edit themselves into perfection. Most of us have editors who add another layer of smoothing out before you read the crazy that has come from our imagination.
By the time you read what we've written, it's good!
In person, there is no editor. I tend to open mouth and insert foot more often than not. I trip over my own tongue, and end up rambling when nervous.
So, back to what I was saying... I started on Spilling Ink as a way to not only reach out to the author community but to also help get over the fear of saying something stupid...publicly.
It has definitely helped me fear less.
Will I stutter? Maybe. Will I say something stupid? Probably. And I hope you'll listen because then we can all laugh together.
So, here goes...
