Today's Spooktacular Spotlight Author is Alexia Purdy!
She's brought Reign of Blood today for us to sample.
Reign of Blood series is about what the world would be like if everyone almost died from a Vampire Virus that leaves most dead, some as brainless blood thirsty zombie like vampires, others as hybrid vampires who can walk in daylight but need blood and are intelligent and of course, humans. But some humans are not normal, not vampire. It takes place in Las Vegas where a girl named April loses her family one day while scavenging and searches the city for them, discovering she’s not as alone as she thought she was. But will these new ‘vampires’ help her, or will she destroy herself and all she believes to be true first? Book 2 continues the story of April as she searches for a legendary human city under Las Vegas and gets in all sorts of predicaments instead, one being an unwanted tie to an old enemy and a new mutation that can threaten them all.

How About Some Facetime With The Author
K.S. Hello and welcome to the blog. I am very excited to have you here. Why don’t we start off with a small introduction? Tell us a little about yourself.
HI! I’ve been writing forever but I’ve been published for just over 2 years. I write paranormal fantasy mainly but I do like to try new stuff. I have four kids who keep me on my toes. I love reading, singing, listening to music and travelling.
K.S. Any interesting writing quirks or stories you would like to share with my readers?
I am a chaotic writer, love to write scenes out of order and then weave it all together. I love chocolate, sweets, soda and I don’t sleep much so I just write or read instead.
K.S. When did you realize you wanted to be a writer? What sparked the desire to pen your first novel?
Since I was itty bitty. I loved reading, flipping through books, listening to the librarians read books out loud and going to the library. For my first novel, I had a strange dream that I thought about for months afterwards. I’d always wanted to write a novel, up to that point it was only short stories and poems. This idea flourished in my head and I told myself it was high time I write something longer.
K.S. What genre do you write?
Paranormal Fantasy and some Contemporary
K.S. What would you say has inspired you most in your writing career? Or, who is your favorite author and why?
I think reading inspires me to write. I don’t write what I read, but I do tend to feel more apt to tell a story after my mind has indulged in an adventure. The authors that I’ve read that really inspired me to get my writing going are: Charlaine Harris, Alice Hoffman, Cassandra Clare and Laurel K. Hamilton.
K.S. What does your family think of your writing?
They love that I write but they don’t read. I’m an anomaly who loves to read, they don’t. But they are proud of me.
K.S. What was one of the most surprising things you learned while creating your book/s?
How much I hate sitting still and typing. It’s really hard for me to do that, though I can type super fast, it annoys the hell out of me.
K.S. What inspires you?
I draw inspiration from dreams mostly and just brainstorming. I live in my head a lot so it’s easy to get lost in a fantasy blooming in my thoughts.
K.S. Do you have a website, fan site, or Blog that we can visit?
My blog/website is: http://alexiaepurdy.blogspot.com
K.S. Do you have any closing advice to aspiring writers?
Just keep at it, every day, always keep writing and reading. No other way around it. Get lots of people you trust to read your stuff and be honest about it to you so you can better it and polish it to perfection.
