Tell us the story behind the story. What inspired you to write this novel?
I have an odd love of apocalyptic movies and books, which inspired me to want to write my own version. When researching what was currently popular in this type of genre I found that many books are about zombie apocalypses. Although I love a good zombie story, I wanted to put my own twist on it so I thought to myself; I said, “Hey self! What would be equally scary as zombies and just as thrilling?” That is how I got the idea of a demon apocalypse.
Tell us about the book cover. How does it represent your book? How did you choose the artwork?
Choosing the cover was actually a difficult process. I went through more than one artist before I settled on the one who created the cover for Released. I really wanted to have the main character on my cover, but also convey that she is strong as well as present the feel of the book as being a bit of a thrilling paranormal romance. It took several images before we found something that seemed to fit perfectly together.
Synopsis:
After a demon apocalypse kills their parents and everyone they know, 17-year old Abby Phillips, her brother, Carter, and friend, Max flee their home to travel through what has become the wastelands of America. When radio transmissions of a resistance offering shelter and safety cease, Abby is tempted to give up. Struggling to overcome life-threatening obstacles in their dangerous journey, Abby and her companions quickly discover there are much worse things lurking in the dark then they could have ever imagined.
